
Fifth Dimension was very excited at the prospect of producing the “Get Into” range of CD-ROM language courses. The client wanted a very different approach to language learning, designed to appeal to an 18-40 age group, always on the go. Fifth Dimension’s response was to conceptualise and build an immersive virtual world in which the learner could define an on-screen persona, explore real-life situations and practice at their own pace, either following a structured learning path or simply jumping in and 'having a go'.
Get Into French won the prestigious Gold Award in the Interactive Multimedia Publishing category of the International Visual Communications Association (IVCA) Awards for 2005.
The IVCA has represented the corporate visual communication industry for over 30 years and the judges’ citation read as follows:
“In a year in which the multimedia entries were more technically sophisticated than in previous years Get Into French made the most imaginative and effective use of the interactive technology. It is a tribute to the producers that this complexity is never obtrusive – indeed the programme appears deceptively simple. It makes exceptionally good use of graphics, is visually engaging and has excellent support material. A fun way to learn French.”
