Life certainly has its ups and downs, although mostly downs when you're a teenager. You're made to work in your dad's shop, have to play nice to your fake step mum, and if you try so much as having a bit of fun, you get grounded.
Fortunately, with the advent of social networking sites, then at least there is somewhere to let off steam, and it's no different for the teenage stars of the BBC soap, EastEnders.
Fifth Dimension and Compuhire have developed a new social networking site – www.myvirtualdesktop.co.uk – as used on the programme by Lucy Beale. For those of you not so familiar with EastEnders, Lucy is one half of the Beale twins, daughter of aspiring businessman and long-time Albert Square resident, Ian Beale.
The site was launched in early August and will be featured in the programme over the next few months, with the site being promoted both on the BBCi homepage and in on-air credit squeezes with the programme.

In a move to become a multi-platform, casual-gaming powerhouse, Oberon Media acquires mobile gaming and entertainment leader I-play for an estimated $120m.
Oberon secured additional funding from existing and new investors including Goldman Sachs, Oak Investment Partners and Lehman Brothers.
I-play's leadership in mobile gaming establishes Oberon as the first "triple-play" platform, delivering casual games to consumers online, on mobile and on TV.
In April 2005, mobile games creator and publisher, Digital Bridges re-launched as I-play. Instrumental in developing the I-play identity, Fifth Dimension proceeded to establish it across a wide range of different media and communication channels.
Originally commissioned in mid-2004 to design the new website, Fifth Dimension was soon asked to take over responsibility for the brand identity from another agency, which saw them developing the final I-play logo in both static and animated versions.
In early 2005 Fifth Dimension produced the internal and external brand guidelines, and later extended these into trade and online advertising for the April ’05 launch. A key consideration was to leverage the power of the game brands such as Colin McRae Rally, The Fast and The Furious, RoboCop and Maria Sharapova Tennis, whilst introducing the new I-play brand. The successful results are still in place today.
Our work extended to the development of the in-game identity, viral marketing games, video previews, trade exhibition stands and office branding.
For Fifth Dimension, working with I-play was a perfect example of our approach – taking the time to understand the client’s needs and delivering high quality, creative results. Fifth Dimension’s technical experience of developing interactive media was fundamental to the production of a creative solution that worked across digital and traditional media without compromise
